Hyundai - Amica

Hyundai
2000-03
Hyundai - Amica Amica is quite roomy and an excellent car around town. It's good value but not a sensible choice for motorway driving. And equipment levels are fairly basic.
+ Like Atoz, a practical town car that's easy to drive
+ Low prices, cheap insurance and over 45 mpg
+ Generous equipment for such a cheap car
- Cabin is a bit narrow for larger adults
- Cheap-looking interior and trim
- Body roll; noisy at higher speeds

This five-door runabout offers value for money thanks to its low sale prices, while low insurance and good fuel economy help to keep running costs down.

City cars are becoming every more popular, and Amica's light steering and compact dimensions make parking easy. The tall, upright body means individual looks (love them or hate them...) and generous interior space for passengers and luggage. But ride gets a little bumpy at speeds, and there's quite a bit of engine noise. The engine is only a 1.0 petrol unit, which struggles on hills, when fully loaded and at speed - it's no fun on fast open roads.

Power steering, electric windows and passenger airbag are standard. GSi adds air con. Later cars are still within Hyundai's five year warranty. Reliability is not an issue. Depreciation is average, and a tidy Amica shouldn't be hard to re-sell.
