Hyundai - Trajet |
![]() |
Trajet is a big MPV promising more metal for your money than rivals. It's practical and slightly roomier than Galaxy/Sharan, but it's not as good to drive or as well finished.
| Generously sized family MPV for sub-Galaxy money | |
| Very well equipped for the money | |
| Long warranty plus Hyundai reputation for reliability | |
| Wind, engine and road noise spoil refinement | |
| 2.0 feels a bit sluggish when fully laden | |
| Like other Hyundais, cabin feels cut-price |
If saving money counts for more than style or badge snobbery, Trajet could be the ticket. A practical seven-seater, it has reasonable load space, good equipment for the price and a reassuring reputation for reliability.
Proven engines are shared with other Hyundai models. The 170bhp 2.7 V6 is quick but rather thirsty. The 133bhp 2.0 petrol unit is adequate though rev-hungry and gives about 30mpg. Diesel enthusiasts have just one choice: a 111bhp 2.0TD with a 0-60mph time of 15 seconds and mpg in the upper 30s.
Trajet is an acceptable drive provided it's not hurried. Push it hard and both handling and ride deteriorate rapidly, while steering responses are a little vague.
Refinement is below class average, with plenty of noise at speed. The cabin and seats are comfortable despite a cut-price feel to trim and interior finish.
Demand for big, cheap used MPVs means depreciation is surprisingly slow.
