Kia - Mentor

Kia
2001-03
Kia - Mentor A small Korean saloon offering very little - a nasty design, poorly packaged and unpleasant to drive. Steep depreciation more than offsets attraction of low new prices.
+ Very cheap for a medium family saloon
+ Kia reliability promises easy ownership
+ Adequate space for four plus luggage
- No fun to drive and lacks refinement
- Ugly front styling
- Huge depreciation if bought new

This car could be the 'worst car on sale in Britain today', we admit that you could get years of trouble free enjoyable motoring but we don;t think you will. Being a small saloon competing against a segment full of hatchbacks will ensure the Mentor is always of a minority interest. The cabin is nasty plastic material with uncomfortable seating and bland exterior styling with an ugly front end. Only one engine available the 1.6 litre petrol which is loud and offers a crashy ride and poor roadholding at anything approaching speed. The Mentor is only suited to the most undemanding car buyers and if you've bought one you won't be smiling.
