Volkswagen - Touran

Touran is a class act that pretty well has it all: good looks, excellent dynamics, fine engines, safety, durable reliability, and the quality and prestige implied by the badge.
Pay extra and you get seven seats, with the rear row folding flat into the floor - although this option does reduce load capacity. As a standard five-seater, it works superbly, with supportive chairs and a big load area.
Engines are two petrol 1.6 units - the modern FSi being the brisker, more economical choice - and turbodiesels of 1.9 (100bhp) and 2.0 litres (135bhp). All use a six-speed gearbox, boosting fuel economy - over 45mpg from either diesel, making the costlier but much livelier 2.0 TDi the prime choice.
Drivers will love Touran; its almost sporty chassis is firmly sprung for maximum body control, the electric power steering is light but precise, and there's lots of adjustment for the driver's seat and steering wheel.
