Audi A1 named What Car? Magazine's Car of the Year

Jan 24 2011

Car finance buyers who are regular readers of What Car? magazine will already know that, during a recent ceremony which took place in London on the 13th January, the magazine named the Audi A1 Car of the Year.  The win was declared a "tremendous accolade" for the Audi A1 by Jeremy Hicks, the car manufacturer's director.

Car finance buyers will also be pleased to know that not only did the Audi A1 win What Car? magazine's overall Car of the Year award, but it was also named Best Supermini.

Speaking about the awards, Steve Fowler, Editor in Chief at What Car?, Said: "If ever there has been a car that has hit the nail squarely and firmly on the head, the Audi A1 is it."  He added: "It's the right car at the right time: a car that combines desirability and ability alongside frugal financials - the perfect combination."

Readers of the magazine also voted the Range Rover Evoque as 2011's most exiting car, although those wishing to get their hands on one through car finance will have to wait another six months before it is launched.
Other winners at the ceremony included the Jaguar XF, which was voted best executive car for the fourth year in a row and the Land Rover Discovery, which won the award for best 4x4 for the seventh consecutive year.  The electric Nissan Leaf also managed to add to its list of accolades by winning the new award of ultra-low carbon car.
