The BMW X6 will soon have to watch its rear! In an attempt to satisfy every niche in the top end of the car market, Audi is planning to launch an SUV styled like a coupe. It will most probably be named the Q6 and it will be directly competing with the BMW X6.
The X6 has of course become a huge success in the UK market with sales of over 110,000 units. The new Audi will use the familiar platform used in the new Porshe Cayenne and the VW Touareg, which is just a shortened version of the Audi Q7's. The Q6 will of course not have the same massive load space as the Audi, but it will be more stylish.
Car finance buyers will be pleased that some of the design elements of the Q7 will be carried over to the Q6, but the new car will also feature pronounced differences to make it unique. The screens will be raked more steeply and the roofline will have a sharper drop at the back. Other differences include wrap-around tail lights. The curved airfoil on the boot will make the new car look somewhat like the Audi A7.
In the front there will be the same amount of space and the ambience will be similar to that of the Q7. The rear will be much smaller with only two individual seats. The boot size will also be smaller because of the sleeker and lower roof.
A choice of engines will be available to car finance buyers, both in petrol and diesel versions. There is also talk of offering the same V6 electric hybrid combination that is currently available in the Touareg and Cayenne hybrids.
The new Q6 is expected to debut in Shanghai later this year and will most likely be available to car finance buyers towards the end of next year.
