Audi says no to entry in the US for the A1

Jun 18 2010 Audi has emphasized that it would not be introducing the A1 in the American market as they feel the brand is yet to establish itself sufficiently enough as a top small car brand to make an impression in a market like the US where big is always in and people are cautious about new comers.
Though reports are positive about the order books getting filled up quite briskly, which means that many consumers are buying the vehicle making use of car loans and other attractive car credit schemes, the car major is still skeptical about a US entry and would prefer to wait for some more time. The idea is to consolidate in the European market well enough before venturing into the US. They are aware that a false start can peg them back quite a bit.
The other reason is the concern that unlike Europe, the trend for smaller cars is still not very visible in the US and car majors like Audi would like to see this trend really catching up before making their entry so that they can reap the full benefits of their brand name.
