New Audi gets off to a flyer
Mar 23 2009The latest performance car to be launched by AUDI has got off to a magnificent start, winning its debut race.
The new R15 TDI model has been created by Audi for the Le Mans 24-hour race, but its debut was at the 12-hour race in Sebring, Florida, where it powered to victory.
Its success could help generate some significant interest in used cars manufactured by Audi, as motorsports fans recognise the company's success.
"In the fastest ever Sebring race, Audi Sport Team Joest’s pair of Audi R15 TDI prototypes ran the entire distance without technical problems," announced Audi.
People searching for used cars will already know of Audi's qualities, but its latest success on the track could bring more people looking for used Audis.
"This is a great result for a brand new car which came to Sebring with less mileage under its wheels than we had planned," said Wolfgang Ullrich, head of Audi Motorsport.
Driver Allan McNish added: "This must go down in the history books as one of the best Sebring 12 Hour races ever when you take in to account our competition, the intensity from start to finish making it a sprint race, with the final two hours especially typifying what Audi Sport is all about."
McNish became the most successful British driver in the event, with the man dubbed the Flying Scotsman securing his third win at Sebring.
