Start-Stop Now Available in Audi A3

Nov 5 2009 Audi has announced that their start-stop technology will now be available in Audi A3 cars. The start-stop will be equipped with the S-tronic gear box. The engine will restart within 0.2 seconds after the brake pedal is released. The battery will also get charged when the car is slowing down. With this technology the consumption of the 1.4L petrol will increase to 53.3mpg from 49.4mpg and emissions will drop to 124g/km. The 1.6L diesel will return 67.3mpg and emissions will be 109g/km. Audi says that the performance of the A3 will not be affected.
