BMW M6 Convertible Spotted Ahead of Geneva Motor Show

Feb 8 2012 BMW M6 Convertible Spotted Ahead of Geneva Motor Show Image

The motoring paparazzi closely monitors car manufacturers ahead of the Geneva Motor Show to tries and get a sneak preview of the latest models even before they reach the show.

A couple of the paparazzi recently spotted the new BMW M6 Convertible being taken through its paces in preparation for the show.

The soft-top 552bhp monster is the most powerful BMW production car ever manufactured.  What BMW did was to take the 650i M Sport and sharpen it up.  The 650i M already costs £77,715, so prepare yourself for an ever bigger car finance deal on the M6.  A provisional figure of £90,000 has been mentioned in this regard.

The spy shots confirm that the Convertible will not deviate much from the formula used in the Gran Coup and the M Coupe.

It utilises the same aggressive rear and front aprons as the M6 Coupe.  The 650i’s dual trapezoidal exhaust pipes are, however, replaced by four round exhausts.

What one can clearly see on the spy shots is that the car has 19-inch alloy wheels with cross-drilled brakes.  As with the M6 Convertible, the M6 will probably not use run-flat tyres.

The power source will be a 4.4-litre V8 combined with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.  The 0-62mph acceleration figure should be in the region of 4.6 seconds, which is, in fact, 0.2 seconds slower than the Coupe.

Equipment levels will be high: expect an optional Harman Kardon audio system, a head-up display and xenon headlights.
