BMW Reveals new Concept Sports Car

Many car loan buyers who are also sports car fans will undoubtedly be excited to hear the following bit of news: BMW has recently revealed a brand new concept sports car called the 328 Hommage.  The car was released during a ceremony at the Vila d’Este Concours in Italy.  It was specially designed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of a BMW legend of yesteryear – the BMW 328 racing car.

The Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group Classic, Karl Bäumer, said “With the BMW 328 Hommage, we wish to pay homage to the passion and inventiveness of the fathers of the BMW 328.”

He added that these pioneers created a motoring icon that was even today still seen as a milestone in the development of the modern car.

The concept car carries some trademark BMW styling features with added retro touches such as the leather straps mounted on the bonnet and the asymmetric windscreen.

It was no easy job to match the light body weight of the original 328, which weighed a mere 780kg.  The new 328’s body is manufactured from carbon reinforced plastic, which BMW also employed in the manufacture of the i3 electric car.  The cabin design has been kept simple and uncluttered and focuses mainly on the driver of the car.

The 328 is driven by a three-litre straight-6 engine, but that is all BMW has revealed so far.

Interested car loan buyers are unlikely to see this model on showroom floors anytime soon, but the technology involved is sure to make its way into future production cars.
