Motor manufacturer BMW Group has been rewarded for its efforts to tackle carbon emissions and improve its vehicles' fuel efficiency.
The company has won string of prestigious awards at this year's Fleet News Awards, which highlights best practice within the fleet car industry.
The firm's success will no doubt help boost the appeal of used cars manufactured by the marque as more environmental options become available for people looking for a used car.
Among the successes for BMW at the awards was a gong for the firm's MINI series, which was given the Best Residual Value Star title.
As the credit crunch strikes across the globe, a growing number of people are looking at buying more fuel-efficient vehicles to cut costs, making these latest set of awards even more important for BMW.
"This is a fantastic result and underscores the competitive advantage the BMW Group enjoys in the marketplace," said Stephen Chater, group corporate operations manager at BMW UK.
Car companies are increasingly looking to develop more fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly vehicles to attract more buyers into the depressed marketplace, which will see more used cars offering an eco-friendly option for motorists in the future.
MAZDA has recently launched its new 3 range, which the company says includes new "fuel-stretching 'i-stop' (Smart Idling Stop System) technology ".
And the TOYOTA Prius has managed to buck the general trend in the industry, selling over a million units thanks in no small part to the demand for its hybrid technology.
