Young new and used car buyers ought to consider how much a car will cost to insure before committing to their purchase, it has been claimed.
While young drivers typically pay more for their car insurance, Malcolm Tarling, specialist in general insurance from the Association of British Insurers, said there are steps people can take to reduce the cost.
Unsecured car loan customers and other young drivers should think carefully about the car they are intending to buy.
"There is no point spending all your money on the car of your dreams if you can't af FORD to run it, and if you can't afford to insure it," Mr Tarling remarked.
A top-end BMW is likely to be placed within the most expensive car insurance bracket by insurers, while a Ford Escort will be at the lower end, Mr Tarling explained.
Those already coping with their Car Finance payments may want to consider shopping around for the best deals.
Best Investor advises people to buy car insurance online, as many providers offer discounts for those taking out policies online.
