The completely restyled Citroen C1 will make its appearance on showroom floors next week. The little car seems to have everything: the price is right, it has excellent CO2 credentials and it is a pleasure to behold. Whether UK consumers will take to it in large numbers only time will tell, though.
The car goes on sale in the UK next week for a mere £7,995. If you buy your car through Citroen’s reward scheme you can save as much as £1,000 on the offer price.
The level of standard kit offered by the new city car model is much higher than the entry-level VT. The VTR version also offers electric front windows, air conditioning and day-time running LED lights.
The VTR+ version comes with dark tinted windows, a leather-covered steering wheel, front fog lights, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and 14-inch alloy wheels. The top-of-the range five door model features the company’s trademark electronic gearbox system with the paddle controls mounted on the steering wheel. The price of this model is £10 545.
Drivers between the ages of 21 and 75 can qualify for one year’s free insurance.
The C1 is fitted with a 1-litre petrol engine. The car, therefore, has exemplary fuel economy with a quoted figure of 65.7 mpg. Emission levels are also very low – the company quotes a figure of 99 g/km and the C1, therefore, qualifies for exemption from London’s congestion charge.
The C1 is already available to pre-order.
