At the Frankfurt Motor Show in Frankfurt next month there will be at least one Citroen that is bound to draw a lot of attention: the company’s first Diesel Hybrid, the DS5.
It will be the first Citroen that features the revolutionary Hybrid 4 diesel hybrid technology that was originally developed by PSA Peugeot Citroen and made its debut in the recently released Peugeot 508 Hybrid.
Citroen is naturally eager to repeat the success it had with the release of the DS4 with the DS5. The DS4 has been described as a “five-door coupe with a raised stance.” It was honoured with the title of “Most beautiful car of the year” at the 26th International Automobile Festival. The company has already received nearly 15,000 orders for the car since its release at the beginning of 2011.
The DS3, of course, enjoyed a similarly successful launch: it was voted the 2010 Top Gear Car of the Year.
The DS5 is a family saloon with a two-litre diesel engine and an electric motor delivering 37bhp. Using Hybrid4 technology, the car has a rather impressive total power output of 200bhp. It also has the ability to switch to four-wheel drive and the electric motor is emission free. Overall emission levels, using both power sources, will still be less than 100g/km.
If you would love to own one of these beauties, then start getting your car finance in place as it will go on sale in the United Kingdom early next year.
