Car loan news: Fiat announces best monthly result in four years

FIAT is celebrating its best monthly sales figure in the UK for four years.

The manufacturer sold 9,818 models last month to Car Finance and other customers, giving it a three per cent UK market share.

Fiat's monthly retail sales figure is up 56.5 per cent on the same period last year, compared to the whole market being 21.2 per cent down according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Much of the manufacturer's success is attributed to the appeal of its new Fiat 500, of which 3,624 were sold last month to customers buying with a secured car loan and other methods.

Andrew Humberstone, managing director of Fiat Group Automobiles UK, comments: "This fantastic result is testament not only to our eco-friendly cars and the overall desirability of the Fiat range, but to the number of key dealer partners who exceeded their sales targets by more than 150 per cent."

He adds that people, including those purchasing a car through unsecured Car Loans, are downsizing in to the small car sector, which he describes as one of Fiat's strengths.

Last month Fiat launched the third version of its Panda city car.
