Car loans news: Abarth 500 is Best Hot Hatch
Nov 28 2008Secured Car Loans customers anticipating the launch of the new Abarth 500 have seen the vehicle given a ringing endorsement by experts.
Despite not yet being on sale in the UK, the model has picked up Top Gear magazine's Best Hot Hatch prize.
Its "frisky and fun" personality made it a hit with the magazine's judges, with its retro styling, sporty appearance and turbo-boost acceleration combining to help it land the award.
Ivan Gibson, manager of Abarth brand UK, said the firm hoped that the 500 would follow up the success already achieved by the Grande Punto region.
"Endorsements from important and influential media such as Top Gear magazine are great news and show us that we are doing things absolutely right with this exciting Abarth brand," he added.
Powered by a 1.4-litre engine and delivers a maximum of 135 bhp, the Abarth 500 is set to hit UK showrooms in February of next year priced at under £14,000.
The Abarth Grande Punto was given a four-star rating in a review by Channel Four, which described the vehicle as "grippy, rapid and involving".
