Fiat – Joining the small car bandwagon

Feb 16 2010 Chrysler unveiled its version of the electric Fiat 500 BEV at the recently concluded 2010 Detroit Auto exhibition. The American automobile market is awash with many reputed car companies trying to sell the small car concept with very good car finance and car credit schemes backing them. However the company has clarified that they only wanted to expose the concept they had in mind and are not thinking of rolling out production of such cars in the near future. But industry sources feel that Chrysler cannot afford to ignore this market for too long as the small car segment is the one that is proving to be the fastest growing in most markets in developed and developing countries.
The primary reason for this is the growing cost of fuel and the fact that driving big cars is causing many parking problems in cities.
This Fiat model is expected to make use of the modular drive system that Chrysler has been active with over the last couple of years and will not be using the usual Mercedes Benz battery pack. The vehicle however has the typical Italian flair exemplified through its body lines and leather trimmings. The company has not released any other information on this vehicle as of date.
