In keeping with her relentless pursuit of making the public aware of several issues in her hugely popular talk show, Oprah has come out with a ‘National No Phone Zone Day’ where she hopes to draw attention of all the drivers of vehicles to the perils of distracted driving and the havoc it can cause. She will be dedicating an episode of her talk show to this subject and Chevrolet has also teamed up with her to set the ball rolling in encouraging its huge workforce of 77,000 to take this ‘No Phone Zone’ pledge. The company will also be contributing monetarily to the fund for the 400PSAs that have been allotted for this campaign that began a few months back and has now become a very intense one.
Chevrolet Vice President Jim Campbell reiterated his company’s commitment to this noble initiative and was quick to add that Chevrolet was constantly working on technologies that would help drivers as well as the other vehicle occupants get total protection.
This smart piece of marketing on the part of Chevrolet in also exposing the 2011 Chevy Cruze for this cause will no doubt be followed by other brands like the BMW and FIAT as well in the coming months.
