Car loans customers 'can save with Ford'
Dec 17 2008Buyers taking out secured Car Loans to help fund the purchase of a more fuel-efficient vehicle could benefit from the latest FORD technology.
The manufacturer has produced new gear-shift indicator which lets drivers know when to change gear to achieve optimum fuel economy.
Moving through the gears quickly allows Car Finance customers to reduce fuel consumption by avoiding unnecessarily high engine speed, and the technology could have a number of additional advantages.
These include reduced carbon dioxide emissions and decreased engine wear, which could also help cut the costs of motoring.
Ford diesel powertrain manager Tim Winstanley said many drivers could stand to benefit from the development.
"The indicator provides drivers with a helpful aid to using less fuel and encourages a smoother driving style," he added.
It will feature on all Ford Fiesta ECOnetic and Mondeo ECOnetic models, and will be added to the Ford Focus ECOnetic in 2009.
Earlier this week, the manufacturer announced sales prices for its new Focus RS, which will be available in the UK from March of next year for £24,995.
