Ford has always been popular in the UK and there is no doubt a large number of UK car buyers who cannot wait to get their hands on a car loan for the latest Ford on the market: the Kuga.
 
We can now confirm that the car is nearly ready for its debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show next week.  The motoring press has, for the first time, published virtually undisguised pictures of the new Ford.  In the U.S. it will be known as the Ford Escape.
 
The car will go on sale in the USA first and will replace the previous Ford Escape.  For the European market it will be re-branded as the Kuga and UK buyers will be able to purchase one of these beauties by the end of 2012.
 
The Kuga will be a global vehicle, similar to the Ford Fiesta and the Ford Focus.  It was designed under the “One Ford” banner, which means it will be sold in a number of worldwide markets without major changes.
 
The concept vehicle we saw at the Detroit Motor Show earlier in 2011 was, of course, called the Vertrek.  The new car retains the sharp lines of the Vertrek, bold LED headlamps, a triangular grille and a very stylish front end.
 
The angular C-pillars and sloping roofline at the rear that we saw in the Vertrek were also carried over.  The vehicle is finished off with durable protective covering for the wheel arches, sills and bumpers.
 
No price has been announced yet, but expect to pay more than the price of the current model, which is on the market at £21,645.
