Ford Fiesta scoops design award
Mar 24 2009Ford's latest version of the Fiesta has won an international design award.
People looking for used cars may be interested to learn that the model has been given the prestigious "red dot" award from one of the world's largest design recognition programmes.
A jury of 28 concluded that the new-look Fiesta is "one of the most stylish cars in the world".
The red dot design awards are presented annually by Germany's Essen-based "Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen".
Commenting on the success, Martin Smith, executive design director at FORD of Europe, said: "It is particularly encouraging to see that our new small car was singled out for its innovative, expressive design by some of the world's leading designers."
The success could encourage more people searching for used cars to choose a Ford because of its stylish status.
The Fiesta has already won a clutch of awards for its design, with What Car? Magazine naming it Car of the Year 2009, while German readers of Guter Rat and SUPERillu gave it the Auto der Vernunft 2009 award.
According to the red dot design awards, a growing number of car manufacturers are relying on delivering innovative and impressive designs to help keep sales up during the current global recession.
