A car maker has challenged Car Finance customers to become greener motorists as it promotes a new environmentally-friendly range.
FORD and the Energy Saving Trust have announced a nationwide 'smart driving challenge' to find car loan customers who drive in a fuel-efficient way.
The car company is set to showcase its ECOnetic range of low CO2 models at the Sexy Green Car Show later this summer.
Ford sustainability director Andy Taylor said: "Smooth and smart driving plays a huge but often unrecognised part in motoring both financially as well as environmentally."
As part of the competition drivers will compete at six regional heats including one at July's British International Motor Show in London.
Ford says the Focus ECOnetic models competitors will drive have a combined fuel consumption figure of almost 66mpg and produce 114g CO2/km.
The company has offered eco driving courses in Europe since 2000 to help Ford owners develop a smooth fuel-saving driving style.
One overall winner of the challenge will receive a home 'eco makeover' examining energy efficiency.
The Energy Saving Trust was established by the government to help the UK to achieve a 20 per cent CO2 reduction on 1990 levels by 2010.
