Ford favoured by 'silver' drivers
Apr 1 2008
Older motorists may be more likely to spend their Car Finance on buying a FORD than any other model of car.
According to findings by vehicles hypermarket Carcraft, the brand is the most popular among the over-65s, with 'silver' drivers choosing the Ford Focus as their vehicle of choice.
Former favourite of 2006 VAUXHALL was pushed into second place this year, while MERCEDES-BENZ was found to be the brand of choice for drivers looking for luxury.
Managing director at Carcraft Barry Nightingale stated: "We find that our older buyers are particularly brand loyal, with Ford and Vauxhall dominating the market, and they tend to make practical rather than emotional choices when buying their next car."
Among the factors searched for in particular by older drivers are low mileage vehicles with good service histories, the study found.
Recently, the firm discovered that MINI Cooper drivers may be among the internet's most sociable motorists.
