Car manufacturer FORD is hoping to tempt more buyers into the new car market by offering a range of deals on its existing models.
Rather than launching a raft of new vehicles, which could prove costly given the reluctance of buyers in the market, the company has decided to try to entice more people to buy its existing brands.
Working on the basis that people will be happy to purchase tried and trusted models, the company is offering a number of financial incentives to get more people interested.
Among the models being given a price makeover by Ford are the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo.
If more new cars are sold, that could result in an increase in used Fords entering the market as people trade in their older models.
A growing number of people are choosing to buy used cars at present because of the global recession.
With less money to spend, people are preferring to purchase used cars than get into the new market, where prices have been higher. Recent figures from the British Car Auctions organisation reveal the used car market remains strong.
