FORD has announced the launch of its new Ka and Fiesta models into the used car market and they have shown promising signs of holding their value.
According to the company, a recent sale of the used cars by the British Car Auctions (BCA) organisation in Nottingham saw the vehicles sold for an average of 85 per cent of cost.
Jon Wellsman, sales director at Ford of Britain, said: "The prices we achieved were our best result at a first-time launch action, reflecting the quality and style of the new Fiesta."
He added: "We were hoping for around 75 per cent and so the results exceeded our expectations and confirmed that we have a desirable small-car line-up."
Mr Wellsman pointed out that the UK used car market has "changed dramatically" over the past few months.
Recent figures from the BCA found prices are continuing to rise for used cars, as more people enter the market looking to buy a cheap vehicle instead of buying a brand new car.
As the global recession hits more people, few have the disposable income to buy a brand new vehicle and are choosing to look at the used car market, making the sector increasingly competitive and driving up demand.
