Ford scoops three fleet industry awards
May 21 2009Motoring giant FORD has been feted with three prizes at this year's Fleet World awards.
The manufacturer picked up gongs for the best new car 2009, which was given to the Fiesta model, while its Transit van scooped the best small van award and helped the firm win the best van manufacturer category.
"The new Ford Fiesta is a worthy winner in a fiercely competitive sector," said the chairman of judges, George Emmerson.
"Many fleet managers are actively downsizing vehicles in their choice lists and employees are looking for quality, attractive looks and competitive whole-life costs and the new Fiesta easily meets all these criteria," he added.
The success of the manufacturer could encourage more people to consider Fords when looking to purchase used cars.
Earlier this week Ford joined the UK government's car scrappage scheme, offering incentives to motorists to replace their old cars with newer versions.
Ford initially delayed the launch of the initiative amid concerns over the tax issues surrounding the scheme, but has now gone ahead with the offers after receiving clarification from the authorities.
