Ford has revealed what is believed to be a glimpse into the future of the company – a beautiful four-door, four-seater sports coupe that lays the groundwork for the new Mondeo coming next year.
The Evos is a head-turner with a highly economical hybrid petrol-electric powerplant, stunning gullwing doors and state-of-the-art infotainment systems. Most importantly, it gives us a very good idea what next year’s Ford Mondeo family car is going to look like.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show next month the Evos concept car will no doubt be Ford’s star. It is the first practical example of Ford’s brand new Kinetic 2 international design language. The design is the culmination of years of cooperation between company engineers from around the globe and it will have an important influence on how Fords of the future, such as the S-MAX and the Mondeo, will look.
Although we already got a glimpse of the Kinetic 2 design concept in the new Ford Vertrek, which comes in the place of the Kuga SUV, the Evos takes this to a new level.
The car’s proportions are quite distinctive: at 1.97 metres it is virtually as broad as a Lamborghini Aventador. The length of 4.5 metres exceeds that of the Focus and at 1.36m the Evos is nearly as low as the Audi TT.
If your brain is going “auto loan” by now, you will love this: the combination of the two-litre petrol engine and the electric motor gives the car a total range of 500 miles.
