As they say, everything has to come to an end and the FORD Mercury brand of models is also about to fade away into oblivion. Ford is doing everything necessary to discontinue the manufacture of this brand. It started the process last year itself when it pulled off two models and is hoping that the balance models will also join them soon.
The Mercury brand of vehicles has done well for Ford over the years with customers picking them up making use of Car Finance and Car Credit plans. However, in keeping with the company’s strategy of exiting brands that are not profitable, this brand too shall bite the dust. The CEO of Ford Mr. Alan Mulally has been on a selling spree disposing of brands like Volvo, Land Rover, JAGUAR and the Aston Martin and has been acknowledged as being responsible for keeping Ford off the bankruptcy list.
The Mercury has been showing signs of fading out over the past decade with sales consistently falling and its peak years were certainly way back in the 1970s. Since then, it must be said that Ford also has spent very little on the brand.
