UK's most-used cars revealed

The FORD Mondeo has been revealed as the most-used car in the UK, according to the latest research, suggesting the vehicle could be a good choice for a Car Finance purchase.

On average, a Ford Mondeo was found to travel some 15,483 miles each year, according to statistics compiled by Warranty Direct based on 50,000 cars from the last ten years, something that may interest Car Loans customers.

The second most-used car in the UK was found to be the Saab 9-5, followed by the RENAULT Laguna and the VOLKSWAGEN Passat. The SEAT Alhambra completes the top five.

At the other end of the scale, the least-used car was found to be the Daewoo Matiz, driven for an average of 6,968 miles per year. The NISSAN Micra was the second least-driven vehicle (7,384 miles), suggesting car finance users buying these cars are not necessarily getting good value.

"This kind of information could prove invaluable when buying a used car. For example, you may find a four-year-old Nissan Micra with 30,000 miles on the clock and think it's a low mileage machine but in reality it's just the average," said Warranty Direct's Duncan McClure Fisher.

According to the Ford website, the Modeo was named Auto Express overall champion of 2007.
