Are all car accessories worth the car loan

May 3 2010
Purchasing a new car by itself is an expensive affair and when you add the accessories and optional features to it, the figure becomes a scary one. Over the years, consumers have moved from seeking the bare minimum conveniences of air conditioning and power windows to other exotic features such as keyless entry, navigation systems and thermal car seats.
It is obvious that you have to pay a lot for these extra options and as you decide to take that car loan to cover them, it is worth pondering whether you would really require all the features or some of them are just of cosmetic value.
The run-flat tyres are the ones in vogue the most. They can run a distance of about 50 miles even after suffering a puncture and that is a good feature since you are bound to find a service or repair station within that distance. However, they come expensive ranging from $150 to $400. Considering that flat tyres are not that frequent, paying such a hefty sum for them may not be the ideal thing to do.
Similarly the navigation system is useful to a wandering salesman and is not recommended for those who stick to a regular route.
