Car dealer negotiations

Jul 1 2010
Anything you buy or sell in this world would have two elements to it. The price you expect to pay as a buyer and the price the seller has in mind. Very rarely do these figures match and that is where negotiations to reach a common ground come into play.
It is quite surprising how many people find it pretty awkward to get into the car showroom and ask for a discount. Most feel overawed by the fact that they are in a showroom and beneath their dignity and status to haggle. Some are so swayed by the sales talk of the dealer that they go by his suggestions and are even willing to take any of the car finance support recommended by him.
In reality, there is nothing wrong in mustering up the courage and asking for a discount such that it is somewhere near to the price you had hoped or budgeted to pay for the car. After all, the salesman in most cases is not the final authority and would have to take it to his boss for approval. It is therefore highly recommended to take your chance and ask for the discount, how much ever outlandish you may think it is and leave it to the dealer to either agree or disagree.
