Those involved in the UK car finance industry will be interested to know that the FLA will be presenting a Debt Recovery for Lenders conference in London on the 18th May 2011.
The location for the London conference is the Church House Conference Centre at Dean's Yard, SW1.
The conference will feature a high-profile speaker from the UK Car finance industry and focus on informing FLA members about the latest changes in the legal framework in which they operate and what to expect in the near future.
The Government recently introduced a new Consumer Protection and Markets Authority and also reviewed legislation dealing with Consumer Credit and Person Insolvency. This radically changes the way in which UK car finance buyers are assisted when they run into problems and the way in which lenders are allowed to recover money owed to them.
The conference will also deal with changes in debt recovery tools such as bankruptcy and Debt Relief Orders.
Some of the topics to be discussed include:
* The latest news about the Consumer Protection and Markets Authority review.
* A practical analysis of where lenders currently stand in regard to debt recovery.
* A discussion of Charging Orders and other debt recovery alternatives.
* The way lenders should approach debt recovery and mental health issues.
* An update on the latest developments regarding bankruptcy and Debt Relief Orders.
* How to use the Consumer Credit Directive and the Right of Withdrawal to recover debt.
* Ways in which the Government's Annual Health check will impact on debt recovery.
Admission fees amount of £495 for members and £650 for non-members.
UK consumers who plan to make use of car finance in the near feature are advised to familiarise themselves with the new legal framework.
