Do not let guilt spoil your car shopping experience

Jun 30 2010
Car dealer salesmen will do anything to make you buy vehicles on which they get the maximum commission or benefits. They will also try to up sell certain facilities and features that you would not have planned on buying as also car finance schemes that may turn out to be more expensive than the ones on offer elsewhere.
The reason they can do so with confidence is due to the customer not going well prepared with information and letting the dealer control the moment. Some salesmen go a step further and may even drop hints about how they are the sole bread earners for the family and how important it is for them to make their quota.
While some of it may even be true, as a customer it is not your obligation to ensure that the salesperson in question makes his quota. Do not let the guilt of having to refuse to buy a particular vehicle cloud your better judgment and only buy what you have to and what suits your requirement. After all, charity begins at home and you are fully within your rights to walk away if despite the time and effort put in by the salesperson, you are not happy with the deal.
