The finance you need The car you want

Car Finance customers may be interested to learn that British drivers seem to be dismissing advice about the need to switch to greener cars, according to the latest research from used car group Carcraft.

The hypermarket for used cars has said that 2007 figures reflect a growing demand for larger cars, with sales of vehicles with engines of 2000cc and above climbing 11.5 per cent in the first ten months of the year.

This reflects a two per cent rise on figures from the same period in 2006, when a 9.5 per cent sales increase was noted.

Barry Nightingale, managing director of Carcraft, said: "The figures are surprising given the increased running costs of larger vehicles, but clearly drivers of prestige cars aren't being put off. In fact quite the opposite appears to be the case."

According to the company, the trend for larger cars is led by men, with the demographic representing 79 per cent of all sales of cars with engines of 3000cc or above.
