Car credit customers to downsize?

Feb 23 2009

Car Credit customers may be looking to opt for a smaller car this year, as results from consumer group Which? highlight that many Brits are likely to downsize.

The struggling economy could mean that consumers shun 4x4 options this year, instead opting for greener, more efficient smaller vehicles, the group suggests, stating that many people now think driving a so-called Chelsea tractor is "socially unacceptable".

Choosing to drive smaller choices could help motorists save money, which could be good news for car credit customers wanting to find a less expensive alternative to the 4x4.

"Times are hard, so it's no surprise that people are downsizing to save money," commented Richard Headland, editor of Which? Car.

"It pays to think carefully about alternatives to the mainstream choices and if you go for a more fuel-efficient car you can cut costs for years to come."

Which? suggests that instead of a Land ROVER Discovery, drivers could opt for a HONDA FR-V, amounting to a saving of £19,966.

According to findings by the organisation, eight per cent of people plan to buy a used car this year, while four per cent are going to invest in a brand new model.
