The CITROEN C1 diesel could leave Car Finance users with a little bit extra in their pocket following the announcement of some fuel consumption figures.

VCA, an agency of the Department for Transport, has released its latest new car fuel consumption and emission figures, which reveal that fuelling the Citroen family car will cost £736 for 12,000.

Further low costs come through vehicle excise duty (VED), more commonly known as road tax. Emitting 109g of carbon dioxide per km means that the Citroen C1 is in one of the lowest bands for VED, at a cost of £35 per year.

According to Citroen, this low-cost VED means that Citroen C1 drivers can pay for their road tax for eight years for the same amount of money that the most polluting cars' drivers get one year of VED.

Drivers looking to make the best use of their car loan may be interested in the fact that the Citroen C1 also has a four-star Euro NCAP safety rating, according to the Citroen website.
