Four-wheel drive used car market 'buoyant'
Feb 12 2009The price of gas-guzzling used 4x4s has seen a steady increase over the past six months, according to figures published by British Car Auctions (BCA).
Values for the used cars have gradually crept back up after initially falling sharply by more than £2,000 in a few weeks and are level with their prices a year ago.
Tim Naylor, PR manager at BCA, commented that the market had expected a downturn in sales of four-wheel drives.
"But as fuel prices began to drop, many motorists realised what exceptional value for money these vehicles had become and there was increased demand and a steady up-swing in prices," he added.
Mr Naylor went on to say that the immediate future is looking positive for these used cars, especially with the recent bad weather.
Valuations firm HPI urged motorists to be quick if they want to snap up a used car bargain, but warned that prices for used models could soon be on the increase.
