Honda hybrid proves popular
Apr 30 2009Car manufacturer HONDA has revealed its new hybrid model has proved a big hit with motorists.
The firm has announced its Insight model has outsold its competitors in the hybrid market during the first full month of sales.
"The Insight is proving a hit with cost-savvy consumers looking for a cleaner car that’s more affordable," commented John Kingston, environment and government affairs manager at Honda UK.
He continued: "More and more people want a car that makes sound financial sense, especially in the current economic climate, and the Insight offers numerous running cost savings such as reduced road tax of £15 per year and great fuel economy."
It is hoped the arrival of more hybrid vehicles into the market will help boost the new car market, but it could also help used car sales as more people purchase the newer models.
Used car fans will also be hoping plenty of the hybrids trickle down into the used car market in the future so that they can enjoy the benefits of driving a more environmentally-friendly vehicle.
TOYOTA recently announced plans to increase production of its Prius hybrid model which has proved a massive success in the US. The company has also revealed the next model will be cheaper as it seeks to encourage more people to buy its cars during the recession.
