An estimated 300 jobs will be generated from now until 2016 as Jaguar Land Rover make plans to strike deals worth £1 billion with UK suppliers, it has been announced.
The move comes as a result of increasing demand from international buyers for the Range Rover Evoque, the car giant said, as well as £2 billion worth of supply contracts which have been given out to over 40 companies in 2011.
It is believed that the newly-created roles will be located in a brand new logistics facility in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The workplace is expected to be opened this coming summer.
Dr Raif Speth, chief executive of the group, said their announcement signals "strong ambitions for continued growth".
He said: "The demand we have seen across the globe for the Range Rover Evoque means we are able to significantly increase what we spend with our suppliers, which is great news for the UK economy, and the thousands of jobs JLR supports in its supply chain.
"Our commitment to the North West will also be enhanced with the new logistics facility and this will support the future success of both our Freelander 2 and Range Rover Evoque models."
