Fashion designer Victoria Beckham has tried her hand at designing something much more mechanical than usual: she helped to design a top-end special edition Range Rover.
On Sunday the former Spice Girl visited Beijing to launch the brand new Special Edition off-road Range Rover “Evoque.”
According to Ms Beckham she had her footballer husband David in mind when she designed the vehicle. It boasts vintage-inspired leather seats and rose gold accents on both the outside and the inside.
She commented: “I've designed a car that I want to drive, a car that I think David wants to drive. I think that though women will drive this car, it has a masculine edge. I think it's very cool.”
Furthermore, the car has custom high-end accessories, which include a hand-stitched leather pocket for the owner's manual signed by Ms Beckham herself and a four-piece leather luggage set.
According to Victoria, she used a variety of sources to assist her with ideas: she says she did extensive research not only on new and old cars, but also on planes, boats, different locations and film stars.
She acknowledges that it would be difficult to pinpoint a single source for her inspiration. In the end, she says, this is what she likes – without getting very technical about the whole issue.
The car will cost £80,000 and only 200 will be manufactured. The first model will go on sale in China as early as October 2012.
