The 250 000th Land Rover Freelander Rolls off Production Line

Mar 30 2011 The 250 000th Land Rover Freelander Rolls off Production Line Image
UK car finance drivers will forgive the staff at Land Rover´s Halewood plant on Merseyside if they are all smiles lately: the plant recently produced its 250 000th Land Rover Freelander.  The milestone model was a Fuji White TD4 Diesel GS with a 2.2 litre engine.  The lucky new owner lives in Scotland.

The first Land Rover Freelander rolled off the production line at Halewood in 2007 and the 250 000th Freelander was completed on Monday, 28th March 2011.

Land Rover indeed has reason to be happy about the reception the Freelancer 2 has received both from the UK car finance market and foreign buyers.  For the year ending in February 2011, sales of the Freelander 2 increased by a remarkable 22%.  This is even more remarkable if one takes into account that the overall sales of new cars dropped significantly during this period.

The demand for Land Rover vehicles seems to outstrip supply at present.  This is in line with the demand for other luxury vehicles, sales of which have increased substantially over the past year.  As a result, Land Rover expects to increase its profits significantly this year.  The company also plans to hire another 1 500 workers at its Halewood plant.

UK car finance drivers will remember that, as with Jaguar, Land Rover belongs to Tata nowadays.  Halewood does not only produce Freelanders though - right now the company is producing the first Evoque Coupe and Evoque five-door models.  Both these vehicles will be produced by the Merseyside plant.
