Actor Kiefer Sutherland has started a 48-day prison sentence after pleading guilty to drink-drive offences.

The 24 star, who plays Jack Bauer in the hit TV show, was formally sentenced on Wednesday (December 5) after acknowledging his crime in October.

Car Credit customers may remember that Sutherland, aged 40, also received a six-month driving ban and must attend alcohol education classes for 18 months as part of his punishment. He may find Car Loans and Car Finance much harder to secure as a result.

In October, it had been agreed that Sutherland would serve his jail sentence around filming of the seventh series of 24. However, filming has been cancelled due to the US scriptwriters strike.

Sutherland won two Emmy awards for his role in 24 and has also starred in The Sentinel, Phone Booth and Taking Lives.
