The finance you need The car you want

Car News

Motorists appear to be buying cars which reflect their lifestyles rather than models which have little impact on the environment, a new report has found.

Of those currently undertaking a Used Car Search, super minis and diesel-powered cars seem to be the most popular, rather than those which emit less carbon dioxide, the study by Experian suggests.

However, awareness of greener alternatives is growing among Car Loans customers, as sales of cars such as the TOYOTA Prius are steadily climbing. A greener vehicle can influence future Car Finance and Car Credit decisions.

Kirk Fletcher, managing director of Experian's automotive division, said: "This suggests that although the environment doesn't completely influence their choice or car, consumers are more aware of the extra costs and want more information upfront before making a decision."

Research from Experian released earlier this month found that super minis, such as the RENAULT Clio and the NISSAN Micra, are the most popular vehicle for those on used car searches in the UK.
