The finance you need The car you want

A new in-car alcohol tester has been launched which is designed to tell if motorists, potentially Car Loans customers, are too drunk to drive.

Aimed at those who drive company cars, the hand-held Alcolock 500 can be programmed at a set level or for a zero-tolerance approach, Fleet News reports.

Company fleets, which may include Car Finance customers, have recently been clamping down on drink driving and many firms have registered an interest in the product. A drink driving conviction could have an effect on future car finance and car loans deals.

David Whittock, joint managing director of Alcolock GB, told the publication: "We've already had a lot of interest from driving schools, fleet managers and coach and road haulage companies and initial trials have proved very successful."

Last week, research by Green Flag showed that 45 per cent of those under the age of 30 admit to driving the morning after a night drinking alcohol.
