The finance you need The car you want

Once they've taken out their secured Car Loans and been handed the keys by the salesperson, many motorists are having to consult their manuals to get to grips with their new cars, new research shows.

Whether they are purchasing new or used cars, it seems encountering new technology is prompting motorists to turn to their car's handbooks, according to Peugeot.

The manufacturer questioned 2,030 drivers and discovered 90 per cent had used their handbook, while 80 per cent have consulted it to find out about specific information about their car's features.

Some 83.1 per cent said they favoured the more traditional car handbook over accessing the information online.

Andy Bye, director of quality at Peugeot, said customers often find out about features they did not realise they cars had from reading their handbook.

Many features would go "unnoticed" if people did not consult the manual, Mr By commented.

"This just goes to show how essential the handbook is, and with ever more sophisticated vehicles on today’s market, the handbook is essential," he added.

For less technologically-minded motorists, a Used Car Search may yield more straightforward cars for sale.

In related news, PEUGEOT recently unveiled details of its latest model – the 308 CC.
