'Top used car deals' on offer at auctions
Jan 23 2009People applying for unsecured Car Loans in the hope of purchasing a cut-price used car could find a bargain at their local auction centre.
According to Manheim Auctions, the current financial pressures have resulted in a "significant increase" in the number of buyers attending auctions in the UK.
With used car prices having fallen by more than 20 per cent over the last 12 months, many are turning to the events in search of a bargain.
Mike Pilkington, managing director at Manheim Auctions and Remarketing, said that people were travelling from over 100 miles away to attend.
The firm attributed the increased popularity to the convenience, value for money and hassle-free environment offered by its auctions.
It cited a 1997 BMW 328i which sold for £575 and a 2001 RENAULT Megane purchased for just £900 among a number of top bargains on offer recently.
According to CAP Motor Research, SEAT used cars boast some of the best residual values of the market, with the Ibiza SC 1.2 expected to retain 44 per cent of its original list price over the next three years.
