Car finance news: Hollywood hero sells off car collection
Oct 28 2008Car Loans customers at Bonhams' annual Classic California Sale were treated to a star-studded event in Los Angeles last weekend.
Hollywood action hero Bruce Willis perhaps caused the biggest stir as he put his collection of American muscle cars up for sale, including a 1957 Corvette convertible received as a present from former wife Demi Moore.
The car sold for almost $80,000 (£51,311), as Car Finance customers and collectors also competed for a range of Steve McQueen memorabilia along with vintage motorbikes, cars and accessories.
Bids were also submitted over phone as buyers worldwide scrambled to purchase a series of celebrity items and vehicles, with several lots shipped over to collectors in the UK.
Willis's 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 Convertible fetched $161,000 (£103,047) at the auction, which has become a must-attend event for Hollywood and motoring aficionados across the globe.
The Bonhams international motoring department has four fully-staffed divisions located worldwide, including one in London, and offers buyers a range of collector cars, motorcycles and automobilia at its auctions across the globe.
