Secured Car Loans customers looking to hit the road to some of Europe's top skiing destinations must check their tyres before they do so.
According to UK organisation TyreSafe, the prospect of driving across snow-laden mountain tracks makes it even more important for motorists to ensure their tread depth meets legal requirements.
Inflating tyres to the correct pressure is also vital to ensure the only slipping and sliding during their holiday occurs on the ski slopes.
TyreSafe chairman Rob Beddis warned that even those lucky enough to escape an accident could still end up paying for their failure to monitor tyre condition.
He said that many European skiing countries make it a legal requirement for cold weather tyres to be fitted and car loans customers could face hefty fines for failing to comply.
"British holidaymakers should be careful to check the legislation of their destination country
before leaving, in order to avoid costly penalties or invalidating their insurance," Mr Beddis added.
Many UK drivers will already be accustomed to the hazards of driving on icy roads after a recent cold snap saw temperatures in some parts of Britain plunge well below freezing.
