Car loans customers 'to see greater green incentives'
Jan 26 2009The government must take steps to initiate a "real change" to greener motoring in the UK, it has been claimed.
Lawrence Holland, general manager of car manufacturer Aixam Mega, welcomed a "long overdue" government decision to invest up to £250 million to encourage people to drive low-emission vehicles.
Transport secretary Geoff Hoon intends for the investment to help develop greater incentives to encourage secured Car Loans applicants and other motorists to drive more environmentally-friendly vehicles.
Following the announcement, Mr Holland claimed that manufacturers such as Aixam Mega could offer an immediate solution to the search for greener motoring alternatives, with ultra-low carbon vehicles available now.
However, governments must ensure that adequate tax regimes and infrastructure developments are put in place to increase uptake among consumer, he suggested.
According to Clean Green Cars, the current recession in the UK is also encouraging more new and used car owners to switch to low-emission vehicles as an attempt to cut fuel costs.
